For my fellow WordPress bloggers: Lately I’ve noticed that “likes” will be recorded in my notifications, but my stats don’t reflect that the posts have even been read. What’s up with that?

May I Have Award With You?
“Like A Fine Wine” Award
Dearest friends, it is with great humility that I accept the “Like a Fine Wine” award.
I realize there were many worthy candidates this year: Meryl Streep, Madonna, and Julia Roberts were fierce competition, and gracious in their loss of this prestigious award.
But in the end, only I met all of the qualifications:
Well aged
Full bodied
Complex and
Fruity.
To my friends and family, thank you for accepting me just the way I am.
I will forever cherish this award.
The WordPress Daily Prompt for March 9 asks “You are receiving an award–either one that already exists, or a new one created just for you. What would the award be, why are you being honored, and what would you say in your acceptance speech?”
Weather Vain
I’m standing in
My closet
Trying to
Decide what to
Wear.
I have not
Checked the
Weather.
I go to do so
On my
iPhone,
But I notice
There are unread
Notifications on
WordPress, and
Facebook, and
Pinterest.
After reading one
Particular post I
Realize I must
Google the population of
Guatemala before I
Forget so I can
Update a future
Article, and then
I go back to the
Bedroom closet to
Dress for the
Day.
That’s when I
Realize I still
Must check the
Weather
On my
iPhone.
Repeat as necessary
Until dressed.
Very Inspiring
The exceptionally talented, Stuart M. Perkins, who writes one of my favorite blogs, at https://storyshucker.wordpress.com/author/smperkins62/ recently nominated me for “The Very Inspiring Blog” Award. I promised that if I could figure out how to link others’ blogs on my own site that I’d happily accept the award. Yet even as I pasted Stuart’s link into my blog I have grave doubts that I did it correctly.
I’m going to do my best, though, because I’ve passed up these awards before, and I appreciate Stuart thinking I’m worth reading. As he says, that’s all any of us really want.
The rules of accepting the award are as follows:
- Thank and link to the person who nominated you.
- List the rules and display the award.
- Share seven facts about yourself.
- Nominate 15 other blogs you enjoy, then comment on their posts to let them know you nominated them.
Seven facts about myself. Hmmmm. I make so much stuff up that facts are scarce.
- I’m a grandmother to five beautiful, brilliant children.
- My husband and I were high school sweethearts and have been married for 38.5 years.
- My degree in elementary education was earned at The University of Mary in Bismarck, ND.
- Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope is my favorite movie.
- I ride a motorcycle.
- My all-time favorite book is To Kill A Mockingbird.
- My secret dream is to be an astronaut.
Okay, now to the tricky part–passing along the Most Inspiring Award to 15 blogs that I follow. I follow some really great bloggers, so I hope I do this correctly. Be sure to check out their sites.

I realize that many of those listed above have been the recipients of many blogger awards, so please do not feel obligated to accept. Just know I enjoy reading your posts!
Peace, People!
Technology: Good or Evil?
Studly Doright and I drove to Nashville, Tennessee, to celebrate Christmas with our family. Playing games and writing future blog posts on my iPhone kept me occupied for several hours of the eight and a half hour trip. Yea, technology!
But somewhere northwest of Atlanta, right in the middle of the composition of perhaps the most spell-binding, sure-to-go-viral blog post in history, my WordPress app crashed. Boo, technology!
I didn’t want to delete the app and reload it because I wasn’t sure what I’d lose if I did so, instead, opting to wait until I returned home, so I could save any worthwhile drafts to my iPad. Yea, technology!
Of course, upon reexamining that world-shaking prematurely preempted post, I found it to be less exemplary than I’d first imagined.
If the app hadn’t crashed, I’d most likely have posted that article to my blog where it would have languished among similarly less than fascinating posts. Again, yea, technology!
Of course, now I’m woefully behind on posting. Boo, technology.
But, I beat level 670 on Candy Crush with all the free time not posting to the blog provided me. Yea! Technology!
I had way more important things to do this past week, anyway:
Our family at The Escape Game in Nashville:
A trip to the Grand Ole Opry and Tootsie’s Famous Orchid Lounge:
And indulging in Christmas gift-giving and birthday celebrating.
Yea, technology for allowing me to share with each of you!
