Super Bowl Sunday is my favorite day of the year. Even if I’m not emotionally invested in either of the teams that have earned a spot in the NFL’s championship I look forward to the big game day, and this year I have warm and fuzzy feelings for both teams.
Studly Doright and I live in Florida—home to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, so it’d be nice to have fans of the home team sporting championship t-shirts for the next year. In fact, if they win I know what I’m getting Studly Doright for Valentine’s Day.
But, Patrick Mahomes is the star quarterback for Kansas City. He’s a Texas Tech alum, and my loyalties were given to Texas Tech before I even left the womb. It doesn’t hurt that Patrick’s adorable either.
The Chiefs have their work cut out for them today. They’ll play in Tampa Bay giving the Buccaneers home field advantage. And then there’s the Bucs QB, Tom Brady, who even if you hate him is indisputably the greatest quarterback of all time.

I refuse to make a prediction for the game since my guesses always seem to jinx the team I’m rooting for, but may the cutest quarterback win.
Peace, people!
Enjoy yourself!

That’s one way to establish loyalty to a team – the one with the best looking quarterback. 🙂 Enjoy the game!

😀 And in this instance it’s totally a matter of personal taste. They’re both really good looking specimens of the male of the species

I will quite possibly be listening to Hubby and BG going crazy over the game while I have my face buried in paint in the basement. The Chiefs are the absolute favorite in this house, so have good thoughts for my poor ears on nearly every play, whether it be a good one or a bad one, as I’ll be hearing it all.

I’ll be making some noise of my own. My husband is much quieter than I am.

I find myself caught between a rock and a hard place this year. I’m a lifelong Broncos fan, so I can’t vote for the Chiefs…even though I’m not really a Brady fan either. I ended up betting my dad on the game and I’m going with Tampa Bay. It’s basically a lesser-of-two-evils decision, though I will begrudgingly admit that Brady is the GOAT.

Oh, the loyalties! I so understand.

I only watch for the commercials… and even they were boring this year. I did go to the kitchen at halftime, though, and, when I came back, I saw a bunch of men dancing with their underpants on their heads… what was that?????!!!!

You aren’t the only one asking that question. It was weird.

I was a very happy human being after the game! I love Mahomes but my Bucs were back the Superbowl. 🙂

I was okay with it. And I think it didn’t hurt for Mahomes to be reminded that, while he’s really good at his job, he still has a lot of work to do.

Mahomes was also hurt. His ankle hasn’t recovered since he hurt it and he still looked a bit dazed from his concussion three weeks before. Tampa had the team last year but needed a quarterback to lead them. 🙂

Right on all counts! I love football.

Me too and especially when my team is playing and on TV. We don’t always get the Bucs here in Jacksonville because our CBS and Fox affiliate is owned by the same conglomerate. We did get more games this year than normal & I contribute that to Brady. 🙂

A couple of years ago we had cable’s NFL package as part of done promotional thing our cable provider was doing. It was great, but we didn’t renew it. Too pricey.

Yes, it is too pricey! I get the games when I get the games. Sometimes I wish I was back in Tampa, but it’s just too darn hot down there! And HUMID!

Barring health problems, Mahones will win a ton of games. But both Tampa Bay and one other team showed how to handle the amazing quarterback. Chase him down, keep him from running outside the box, and keep the receivers covered for a few seconds. He’ll have to make adjustments. But there’s another point. Giving quarterbacks a ton of money for one great year or one Superbowl. Others have one the big one, got the tremendous contract, then never returned to the big game. Carson Wentz anyone. But I think, with Mahones, he will prove worth his contract.

I think he will, too. I hope so anyway!

I think he will make a lot of teams miserable while he’s around. Hah. And barring injuries, he will be in the big game at least a couple more times.

So many variables, but he has the talent as long as they surround him with the right people.

You should have seen him when playing for Texas Tech. I think in one game against Oklahoma, he threw for like 600-800 yards.

I was born in Lubbock, and I still follow Texas Tech football. Guns up!
