Valentine’s Day was pretty low key here at Doright Manor. Poor Studly Doright has been swamped at work, so after he got home on Thursday evening I greeted him at the door with his gift and no expectations of an evening out.
His gift appeared to be a small Igloo cooler that I’d decorated with heart stickers. His reaction was underwhelming, until, that is, I told him that was just the gift wrapping. Inside was his actual gift:
A tube filled with Reese’s Cups and
two pounds of small batch, thick cut bacon!
For dinner we enjoyed pancakes and Studly’s Valentine’s Day bacon. Yum!
For his part Studly showered me with flowers, candy, and some oh-so-soft pajamas from PajamaGram. They’re lovely. I might’ve even worn them last night. Wink, wink. There’s a slight possibility that bacon is an aphrodisiac.
Peace, people.
My husband is all about the bacon…..would be exactly something I would get him

Mine loved it. He said it was the best valentine he’d ever gotten.

I hear that….for Christmas I gave him an Italian beef kit from a Chicago place….

Yum! Have you used Goldbelly for food orders? I usually turn to them, but on the bacon the shipping cost was going to be outrageous.

I didn’t use them…though I am going to at some point…hubby loves Princes fried chicken. I ordered through taste of Chicago. I know…shipping can get ugly, but I figure out a way to justify it in my head

I usually do, too, but on the bacon it was way outrageous. And it wasn’t a last minute order, either. I got more bacon at the other place, too. So winning! For once.

I remember I was# going to do bacon of the month club once, and the shipping cost was ridiculous…maybe a bacon conspiracy

My son-in-law makes the greatest Italian beef sandwiches. I crave them sometimes.

My husband has a conference in Chicago every year…I think he hits Portillos first. My problem with making the sandwich is the gardinera (sp) it’s the one condiment that’s not done well here

I’d never even had an Italian beef sandwich until my daughter married her Illinois guy. Not sure how I lived before that.

Reece’s and bacon – what a combination. I suspect both of you mostly enjoyed the pajamas not worn. wink, wink

I’m going to be honest—the pajamas are so pretty and soft, but they don’t “breathe,” so they acerbate my hot flashes. I took them off, but not for the reasons I hinted at!
