Air like molasses
Molding around the edges
No room for a breeze

August days linger
Sun’s arms clinging ‘til the end
Holding night at bay

Where some might wither
Others come into full bloom
In summer’s last act

The worst month of summer. Captured so very well.

Thanks! We’re sweltering here, but at least we’re accustomed to the heat. My poor friend in Oregon is really struggling.

Love those pictures and the haikus! Strangely, it’s not as hot as usual here, but the humidity has been a thousand percent all summer.

The last two weeks have been hot and humid here. And we had several days last week with no air conditioning. Inspiring stuff.

I love this one. It is so relatable, especially the molasses air. I think it could win a poetry prize.

Thank you! I was inspired by our lack of air conditioning last week…

Being outside on the coast of NC last week was like molasses, too.
