A Plague
Because I Can’t Scream in Public
There is a gargoyle living in my gut. His gruesome stone snarl scraping against my colon. The heartburn never ends.
He must have moved in as a pebble, a tiny worry about what could be, and every minute since that shitty November day he’s
Grown more abrasive, more corrosive, taking up too many centimeters of my being. He spits acid from a contorted tongue,
Searing the lining of my duodenum, creating blisters that won’t soon heal. Resistance hurts, but acquiescence kills.
Fake news fact check
Sad that there’s a need for this, but thank goodness someone is standing up for truth instead of alternative facts. Read more at cornfedcontessa.com.
This is a sad commentary on our society. It’s a money grab for ad clicks. This appears weekly in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel on Sunday. The stories are outlandish to say the least. The really sad thing is so many people believe this rubbish. A dumb down of our fellow Americans.

Pretty Dress Blues
I bought a blue dress,
Fits me like a glove,
Blue lace over silk,
So what’s not to love?
I’ve got those low down, pretty dress blues.
Dress hangs in my closet,
Beside five pairs of jeans,
It looks out of place there,
You know what I mean!
I’ve got those low down, pretty dress blues.
I bought shoes to match
That pretty blue dress,
They’re silver and sexy,
Will I wear them? No guess.
I’ve got those low down, pretty dress blues.
I’ll pack that nice dress
Maybe wear it one night
Shock my dear Studly,
I’ll be such a sight.
I’ve got those low down, pretty dress blues!
(I did buy a dress and heels. Now, whether I wear them in public is a different matter. I’m such a committed blue jean girl, and dresses have a way of bringing out all my insecurities. But, I’m taking this thing to Ireland in hopes that an occasion will call for a dress and heels.)
Broiled Miso Salmon and Blushing Baked Salmon Recipes
Yummy recipes courtesy of sanseilife.wordpress.com
The tastiest salmon dishes from Jane who made enough for over 100 people for a recent luncheon at my church, enjoy!
Broiled Miso Salmon
¼ C white (shiro) miso paste*
3 T mirin
2 T sake
1 T sugar
1 T soy sauce
4 salmon fillets
- Whisk all the ingredients, except the salmon, together in a bowl.
- Turn the salmon fillets in the marinade to coat, cover and refrigerate overnight.
- If you are doing an entire half a salmon, after placing it skin side down in a pan, just spread the marinade over the fish, cover and refrigerate overnight. If you only have about an hour to marinate, after coating the fillets, you can place them skin side up so that the flesh is sitting in the marinade and soaks in.
- To cook the fish, turn on the oven to high heat.
- Place salmon skin side down in a pan…

Still Mad
Jan Wilberg writes exactly how I’m feeling. Great piece.
Once at a stoplight, the man in the car next to me rolled down his window and told me to stop yelling at my kids. Well, actually, what he said was, “Take it easy, lady.”
I told him to mind his own business, then I tore off when the light changed to green, and kept yelling at my kids. Their offense? They all went nuts at the doctor’s office at once because it was shot day. They were running around, making me chase them, arguing, and the worst of all worst things that could happen with my kids, my older son was doing his loud “Stop hurting me!” yell every time I touched him. It was his favorite thing. I’d look at him and he’d start yelling and holding his arm.
It was mortifying. And, no, I never broke his arm.
I felt like that last night watching the news. I was…

In Control
In Control by Leslie Noyes
See this old witness?
She has seen every cold move
Nothing moves her now.

Look past her beauty
Don’t be fooled by winsomeness
She shot the sheriff

Do not blinfold her
She deserves to see her end
Always in control.
Snapshot #185
I stopped a young lady, she looked to be ten or so, while I was shopping today and asked if I could take a picture of her adorable shoes. Her dad gave the okay, and I captured this cute photo.
She’d decorated them herself using a combination of Sharpies perfect and rubbing alcohol, and was purchasing supplies to make another pair. I call this one, “Affordable Wearable Art!”
If you’re interested, I found this technique on Pinterest. Looks like a fun summer project!
