Keeping Busy

The worst times are those

When I’m caught off guard

As I’m drifting into sleep

Or the first moments upon waking

When my primitive brain latches onto

An ugly hunger that needs slaking,

Baking ideas like malformed cookies

Question mark-shaped dough

And I force myself to move

In action there is solace;

If I’m busy, I don’t think

  1. Hugs. There is no easy road right now, but you will make it to the other side. Take care of yourself, it’s just as important as everything you want to do for Garrett.

      1. I understand, that’s what mom’s ( and grandma’s) do. I hope both of you can give yourselves permission to ask for help as much as possible.

      2. My daughter is an organizational superstar. Always has been—quite unlike her dear old mom who can barely get it together to have breakfast every morning. Right now she’s in her element—juggling appointments, multi-tasking, and delegating. She’s amazing, but of course I worry about the physical and emotional toll this is having on her. She won’t slow down, though, until she crashes. Sigh.
