Last night was the first of the 2020 presidential debates between Joe Biden and the current occupant of the White House. Studly Doright asked if I wanted to watch the event and I thought about it for all of two seconds before saying, “No!”
This will be the first time in many years that I refuse to watch a presidential debate. In 2016 I watched Trump boorishly looming over Hillary Clinton while he lied through his teeth. While she handled the whole intimidation attempt beautifully, I did not. It made me sick to my stomach, and I didn’t sleep at all afterwards.
Trump represents the worst mankind has to offer. He is without honor, solely interested in enriching himself, and maybe his family if their interests happen to align with his own. And he will say anything, do anything, to screw over the little guy in his quest for the almighty dollar.
What did we do instead of watching the debate? We watched Dexter on Netflix. Yes, I’d rather watch a serial killer killing other serial killers than watch Trump bloviate ad nauseam.

Peace, people!
Unfortunately yours was a very wise approach

Up here in Canada I can’t stomach it either. Kinda afraid to turn on social media this morning…

Apparently it was a real nightmare. Trump interrupted and bullied and spewed lies. Biden tried to debate, but I guess it got out of hand from the very beginning. Not a proud moment for my country.

Sigh.

I’m so afraid he’ll somehow win again. Not sure I can handle four more years.

It is a really precariously situation.

I’m pretty sure my husband voted for Trump in 2016, and that caused some HUGE issues in our relationship. I told him then that with trump at the helm it was likely we’d never see another Democratic President in our lifetimes. Trump will do anything to stay in power.

I understand. Canada has its own political issues and we don’t see eye to eye on some of them here either which makes ot challenging at times…
I just hope the internet doesn’t blow up come November…

I didn’t make it through the first question before the TV went off. I just wanted Chris Wallace to throw up his hands, say this is a farce, we are done, and walk off the stage.

That would’ve been epic.

We decided not to watch the debate – watched two reruns of Hawaii Life instead – curiosity got the best of us so we turned the channel to the debate – watched about 60 seconds -it was more than we could take – turned the channel again watched a rerun of Golden Girls then went to bed. All the reviews I have been reading this morning about the debate confirms what a fiasco it was and so glad we did not put ourselves through that torture! Watching reruns of outrageously priced homes and spirited older women was much more satisfying.

I couldn’t agree more. I watched just a brief clip this morning and wanted to scream.

I watched the whole damn mess. The moderator tried, but he didn’t stand a chance with Trump. Biden did as well as he could, but you did not miss a thing. This was a horror.

You missed exactly what you thought you would……Chris Wallace was a pussy….all moderator should use tazers if the debates go beyond their 2 minutes

It was like watching a train wreck and being unable to look away because what you are seeing is so utterly horrifying it is impossible to believe it is real. My daughter watched with us and I think she is now scarred for life.

It must’ve been horrible. I’ve watched some clips. Even just a bit of it makes me sick to my stomach.

You were so, so smart. Not only did we watch it, but I lay awake in bed for hours afterwards. It was the worst night of sleep for me since that fateful night in 2016.
