Light

If it’s always darkest before the dawn, then is the opposite true?

Before the dark sets in, is that when the light shines brightest?

Maybe we’d notice then, and make ready.

But then we’d always be wondering, is this it? Is this the brightest light? How could anything be brighter? We must be doomed.

Or maybe we’d just celebrate the light.

Peace, people.

  2. Young Leslie,
Earlier we spoke of Randy Newman. a great American. I agree with you, he has/had/probably stills has a talent that very few are blessed with. I could not remember his song within which the perfect set of simple yet powerful metaphors when we spoke. ‘Tis called ‘In Germany Before The War’. The little girl represents Hitler’s Germany, the old man in the lyric, a Jewish shop keeper. I simply had to send this piece to you. The first time I ever hear it…well let’s just say ‘emotional’.
‘A little girl has lost her way
With hair of gold and eyes of gray
    Reflected in his glasses
    As he watches her’
