Studly Doright took Friday off work, and we drove to Destin, Fl, to hang out with his sister, and her husband from Texas, and friends of theirs who are vacationing in Destin with them. While the men played golf we ladies went to see Downton Abbey. Here’s where I admit that I’d only seen an episode or two of the television series before yesterday. Shameful, I know, but I enjoyed the film. The costumes and sets alone were worth watching for two hours.
From left, Angie, me, Michelle, and Lori, waiting for the movie to begin. I’m secretly wondering if there will be light sabers used in the film. Spoiler alert: Nope.
We shopped for a bit after the movie, but I didn’t buy a thing. I couldn’t resist taking pictures of this little guy playing with the water at a splash pad in the shopping center’s courtyard.
After the guys finished their round of golf, we met them at Margaritaville for dinner. I took these photos from the dining area while we waited for our meals to be served.
We drove the two hours home after dinner and went straight to bed. I think I was asleep before my head hit the pillow. Great day, though. I might have dreamt in a British accent.
Peace, people!
I’m taking myself to see the movie tomorrow or Monday. I loved the series and as no one I know has an interest this movie is my late birthday treat to myself 🙂

Good for you! And I do think the movie stands well on its own. Two of us in the ladies’ group had not watched the tv series, and we all enjoyed it. I’m tempted to watch the series now.

My wife watches (has watched) Downton Abbey, and likes it as well.
I haven’t been to a Florida beach in quite some time. I miss the serenity of it all.

I live about an hour’s drive from a really nice, quiet (non-commercialized) beach. Studly isn’t much of a beach guy, so I go alone quite often. And while we didn’t even walk on the beach yesterday it still had this pull. There’s nothing like it.

Are you inspired enough to watch the show now? We’re going to see it later next week; I’m hoping the theater won’t be too crowded. – Marty

I probably will watch it. Maybe. I kind of promised my sister-in-law that I would.
Our theater was fairly full on a Friday afternoon. But I think if you see it during the week you’ll be fine. Most of the die hard fans will have already seen it. And at least it’s not a movie they’ll be bringing noisy kids to see.

We do have some gorgeous beaches, and I’ve only been to a handful of them.

Haha – dreaming in a British accent was a fun comment – after I finished the series I felt like I was part of the family – a cousin perhaps!
And how cool that you are two hours from beautiful destin!
I knew you were close but did not realize that close and we have fined at margarita-Ville and enjoyed it – especially that view

I’ve eaten at many a Margaritaville, but I really loved this one. They had live music and the guy was incredibly talented.

How fun! We are going on a little trip next weekend. I admit, my wife is more excited than I am, but that’s because I haven’t always vacationed maybe like I should. Hopefully, next weekend will give me a chance to do a better job. So, I watched all of DA when it was on. We LOVED it. I heard about the movie, and I really like to avoid spoilers (thanks, except for the light sabers). This morning, I’m in the kitchen making coffee and our local PBS affiliate was on the radio and this guy started talking about the movie and he was going through the plot line! OMG. I was yelling “Alexa” trying to get anything else to happen – I finally just said stop. Now, why would he start spouting off the plot on the day after it came out? Ugh!

That was terribly irresponsible of him! I think the rule of thumb for spoilers is two weeks after the release date.
