Sketch a girl in black and white,
Pigtails flying, slapping against a plaid shirtwaist
Skinny sun browned legs skip-hopping to a rhythmic chant
Cinderella, dressed in yellow,
Went upstairs to kiss a fellow.
Made a mistake and kissed a snake,
How many doctors did it take?
Rope twirls ’round, up, then down, over and over again.
All in the wrist, she thinks as she counts, “One, two…twenty…ninety,” and beyond.
So many doctors! She can jump all day, or at least until recess ends.
Cool – artsy and fun
And two questions – was that your photo? And did you write the chant/rhyme?

That could’ve been me in the photo, but it’s not. I jumped rope a million times in elementary school. The rhyme’s an old one. We knew them all!

Did you know “I like coffee, I like tea, I like ______ to jump in with me”
This one worked well when you had rope twirlers, a big rope and plenty of room as some kids were not the best at jumping in, or out for that matter 😉 Sadly I was often one of the not so coordinated ones!

I do remember that one! I did better in solo jumping, though. I’m a bit of a klutz.

This one was always a bit on the clique-ish side as well. One person jumping always seemed to ask for the same friends to jump in more often than not. Rather rude!
