Fifty-nine years and what do I know?
Apart from grey hair and wrinkles in tow
I’ve developed a limp and I’ve aches in my knees
That defy medication; I’m begging please
Just amputate everything south of my waist
I don’t need it anyhow so do it with haste
Before I have time to consider the loss
Of hips, thighs, legs, and those vaginal parts
I’ll still have my arms, my mouth, and brain
To write, rant, and think as I go slowly insane.
I’ve done something to my right hip which in turn is affecting my ankle. I’m walking as if I’m 102. It’s no fun. So, I turned it into this little ditty hoping it would make me feel better. So far, it hasn’t helped even a little bit.

looks deadly!

Why vaginal parts?

Below the waist–and they aren’t working as intended right now. 😢 five years of tamoxifen for breast cancer and then menopause have pretty much made those bits less than fun.

getting old sucks………..I hear you all the way to my toes, stuffed hips, knees and ankles, I walk like a cripple, but I still keep going!

Getting old is not for the faint of heart.

I feel guilty about enjoying your ode to cranky body parts so much, Nana, knowing real pain led to its composition. Hope you’re feeling better!

I have an appointment with my chiropractor on Wednesday. Fingers crossed for some relief.

I, too, felt badly for laughing at your pain, but you did bring it on, didn’t you (the laughter, I mean). Hope the chiro gets you back to feeling better.

Laughter might not be the best medicine, but it does render pain manageable.

There should be an alternative to ‘like’. I like your ditty, but not what it is about

I appreciate the sentiment! Like the like regardless.

Oh, how I empathize! Between right total knee replacement, right Achilles’ tendon rupture and repair, and left quadriceps tendon rupture and repair, I am starting to think cyborgs may have the right of it!
BTW: feel free to use this as an example of why the Oxford comma shall never die!
Get well enough to dance soon!
