Oh to be a cat…now if you had ever met my wife’s sadly snuffed it Border Collie you could have written the polar opposite poem! Bet you’d make a fine job of that also.

Just between the two of us, the poem is about my eldest granddaughter–a beautiful, bright child who currently wants to bypass college to work at McDonald’s. Of course, she’s only 13, so there’s hope. At least I hope there’s hope.

A difficult one when the kids are determined yet at 13 there is still time. On the other side my youngest finished university last year with a first in music and 157 job applications later (no one even bothers to reply) still has no job save for working in a café presently…plus he will eventually have to pay his £20k+ student loan back in the fullness of time. It was so much easier in my day…I just went out one morning wanting a decent job and by lunchtime had succeeded! Best of luck to the gal

Her dad (our son) assures us that most of hers is an act.
Your son will find that position. What does he want to do with his degree?

Mix music in a decent studio rather than play, although he hankers to sell compositions to singers who cannot write lyrics and/or musicians who cannot write melody…all a bit left field but hopefully he’ll get there. He even has a well equipped home studio in the attic. Composes all his spare time!

All the musicians I know are in Nashville, TN now. They go to writers nights and share ideas, they participate in writing round tables, and do a great deal of collaborating. But most wait tables during the day. A few teach music in schools to pay the bills.

My lad loathes networking sadly and teaching jobs are out there but teaching has no appeal to him…I guess he’ll find his own way soon!

Brilliant the way you taper down to the … lazy. Lazy says it all. You’ve just put a bull’s eye on my personal n° 1 ennemi for the coming year 🙂

I’m such a slug. Having said that I’ve accomplished quite a bit this year. Now I need to rest.
