family
grounded in
roots,
love,
shared stories,
this one
heartbreaking
because it is true:
a family torn
asunder by
petulant
offshoots,
self-serving
jealousies.
pride,
malignancy
masquerading as
balm,
soothing,
perpetually
bandaging wounds
that we refuse
to let mend
seeking
retribution in
place of healing.
That is a shame. My family is a bit of a mixture. Some members of it getting on very well with each other, but with others, decades-long estrangement being the norm. 😦

My husband’s family has always been so close, then one spoiled rotten kid changed it all. It’s very sad. My poor mother-in-law is heartbroken.

It’s awful when something like that happens. Some of my relatives and also my wife’s relatives have had real problems with sibling rivalries. Not, I’m glad to say, my brother and I, though. We get on well even though we don’t have a chance to meet very often.

My brothers and I get along well, but we seldom see each other. Maybe that’s the key.

Well, we all know what is supposed to make the heart grow fonder. 🙂

Isn’t the entire quote, “absence makes the heart grow fonder for someone else?”

Could be. 🙂

Painful how some families keep inner “self-serving” feuds going forever …

And this one could easily be resolved. It’s sad. One sister has completely alienated her siblings, even her mother, over something her own grown child perpetrated.

Hoping common sense and … peace & love prevail…

Same here. We are far enough away that we can stay out of the fray, but my heart breaks for my mother-in-law.
