I’ve been slowly weaning myself off of the antidepressant, Effexor. So far, so good. While I’ve had a few of the side effects that come with withdrawal (i.e. headaches, brain zaps, etc.) they’ve not yet been overwhelming.
While I’m at it I’ve decided that I might as well stop drinking wine and coffee, too; although, I’m not quite ready to give up my one “hoppy” beer in the evening. I think I’m doing pretty well. Let’s see what Studly has to say:

Seriously, if you don’t hear from me in a few days it means I’ve gone off the deep end.
Peace, people!
Good luck with the weaning. But don’t give up everything at once.

I’ve added the caffeine back into my routine. My morning headaches were lasting all day. 😁

Just curious, do you do any meditation or yoga?

Giving up wine and coffee?? Not sure that this would work for you, but I love black tea for my caffeine. It’s supposed to be better for you (although I just drink it because I’ve been an addict since childhood).

I will try it. My headaches are awful.

I’m a headache-prone person anyway, so I understand what it’s like when your entire day turns into a battle with the pain 😦 Hope you find a solution!

My 2 brothers and I were born bipolar. All attempts at medication totally squashed me so I choose to ride the ups and downs. One brother is on med.s and is worse off than ever. My other brother died in a car wreck and I believe med’s were a factor. I will never take another anti-depressant. Hope you can exist without med’s—-and be the you as created.

Thank you! I’d never had issues with depression. The Effexor was prescribed to help dampen the side effects of the cancer drug Tamoxifen (hot flashes, night sweats, etc.) Had I known how hard it was to wean myself from the antidepressant I would have just toughed out the effects of the tamoxifen. Effexor has changed my brain chemically. Not good.
