Snapshot #25

I believe this one should be called, “Damned Straight!”

Popularity

A caution duly noted,
“those words will not increase
your popularity.”

My response: screw popularity
I’ll say what’s right
and damn the consequences!

And when you’ve exhausted
everyone’s good will?
Then what?

I’ll create imaginary
friends and we’ll dance
and sing and exchange witty barbs.

But won’t you be lonely,
woman? Sitting by
yourself, whistling in the wind?

I’d rather be lonely
surrounded by truth than cradled
by those who spout lies.

peace, people!

Free Speech

Speaking candidly
aggravates the insecure
liberates others.

Don’t speak down to me
I’m no one’s little woman
I respect respect.

Propaganda earns
only scorn and disbelief
hard truths are preferred.

Slack Jack

Cut me some slack, Jack!

I’ve done nothing recently

Most all my sins are past.

There were days when I

Could not tell the truth

Even if my life depended on it.

It was a weakness.

Some days still I find lies

Pulling at my tongue.

They are so much more

Interesting than my truths.

This is why I write.

Peace, people!

Truth

As a commodity

Truth gets mixed

Reviews:

Soul-searching

Peace-shredding

Gut-wrenching

Enlightening

All of the above.

I have a nodding

Acquaintance with

Truth.

We know one

Another, but are not

Besties.

A Visit with the Truth Fairy

The Truth Fairy flew through
My window last night
Flittered around and
Fumbled beneath my pillow.
Startled, I awakened and
Screamed,
“Who the hell are you?”

“Don’t mind me,
I’m the Truth Fairy,”
The intruder said.
“I’m searching for
Veracity. So far
I am unable to find
Even a trace within the
Confines of your abode.”

“I’ve found exaggerated
Prose, and pious poetry,
Inelegant phraseology, and
Insipid verse, but
Very little in the way of
Truth!”
He continued.

“Oh,” I replied.
“In that case,
Perhaps you are
Looking in all the wrong
Places.
The truth is Boring,
Veracity is dull and you are
Wasting your time.
