This morning I have an appointment to be fitted with a sleep monitor. I’ll wear it tonight to help determine if sleep apnea is the cause of my memory gaps/lapses.
I tried writing something for my next novel (FYI, book 6 in the Happy Valley series), but ended up just staring at a blank screen because last night was the third (or fourth) in a row of little to no sleep.
Finally I gave up and took myself for brunch at Canopy Roads Cafe on Apalachee Parkway in Tallahassee. The server was a bubbly twenty-something who took my order then said what I understood as “I like your glasses.”
Apparently that wasn’t what she said at all because when I thanked her she gave me an odd look. Now I have no idea what she said as she walked away. Maybe “I took some classes?” Or “I like big asses.” Who knows. Maybe the sleep doctor can offer a suggestion.
Peace, people!
Oh Leslie, I was so hoping that you had an answer at this point. I’m sure the stress of continuing to search doesn’t really help getting a good nights sleep either. I hope this sleep study and monitoring gives you something definitive.

Thank you! I’m still stumbling around in the dark. I think the good news is that apparently neither the MRI or EEG showed anything worrisome. So if it’s sleep that’s the issue maybe we can address that.

After all the testing was done on my husband, the neuro said TGA–transient global amnesia. And there is no treatment, so we just go on as usual…which is a little unsettling. I hope you get something more definitive.

There is no cause and no treatment, yet the neuro made copious notes. I’m imagining the notes say something like, “Hmm. This is pretty strange.” The saving grace is that the two times this happened, husband was home with me.

Whoa! That’s a diagnosis I’ve never heard of! It does sound quite unsettling, especially the no treatment part. Best to you and your husband.

We’d not heard of it, either, LuAnne Our neuro was good in the fact that his father had an episode of this once so he was aware of the condition, but this has happened to my husband twice. So we wait and see. Thank you for the good wishes.

I’ve been having severe sleep issues. Last week I broke down and took Nyquil… and had my greatest sleep in weeks.
I hope you find your solution!!

I guess the best thing about all of this is being able to laugh about it. One step at a time!

I’ve been out of touch here for an age. Sorry to hear about the struggle to sleep, but man am I curious about what she actually said.
