Dune

I’m not sure how long it had been since I sat in a dark theater to watch a movie. Maybe we’d gone early in 2020, but I don’t remember. And I know we hadn’t been in 2021—that is until Thursday evening when Studly Doright, our grandson, Garrett, and I ventured out to see Dune.

We bought popcorn and pretzel bites and horrendously overpriced soft drinks and enjoyed every minute of our evening. I hadn’t realized how much I’d missed the whole experience of going to a movie until the lights went down and the first of several trailers lit up the screen. I love trailers—what we called “previews” back in the day.

And the movie itself was great. I haven’t read Dune, and wasn’t sure what to expect. Well, now it’s on my “to be read list.” Since the film only covers about half of the story I need to see what happens next. Right now. I am not a patient person.

Peace, and popcorn, people!

      1. I worried that he wouldn’t have the stamina to keep up with me, but he did well. We probably took things easier than we would have before his diagnosis, but we planned things out carefully so neither of us felt like we’d overdone it.

  1. So pleased that Garrett is doing well and that you are spending time with him. Last movie theater for me: 2019 Once Upon a Time…In Hollywood. Oh, remember I noted my decision to binge watch Midnight Mass for the Halloween weekend? OMG, 2 episodes left for tomorrow night. Not at all what I expected, but at the same time everything that I expected…does that make sense? Could have used a warning about kitties and dogs and these episode endings having me up and down in emotional turmoil. I am quite enjoying myself.

      1. I have to finish this Happy Valley Motor Inn and Resort series first. It’s kind of taken on a life of its own. Honestly, parts of the first book make me wince. But I’m learning!
