Our grandson, Garrett, graduated from Riverdale high school near Port Byron, Illinois, on Sunday afternoon. Studly Doright and I weren’t able to attend, but we watched the commencement exercises live on YouTube. It really was the next best thing to being there.

We’re so proud of Garrett. He’s headed to Bradley University in Peoria, IL, in the fall where he plans to study game design.
We’ll see Garrett and the rest of his family next weekend when we travel to the Quad Cities to attend a party in his honor. I’m ready to distribute hugs.
Peace, people!
There’s a real school called Riverdale High

I think it’s awesome that they did that! I’m really hoping that more places and events continue to offer this moving forward. Congrats to him!

It was nice to be able to “be there.” When his graduation date was announced they were told they could have only two guests. So, my husband and I made plans to be there the week after for a big party. A week before graduation they said every grad could have up to ten guests! But we’d already made airline reservations for the other date. I was heartbroken that we couldn’t be there. YouTube helped a lot.
