Driving, I thought
Of life and death
How some folks live more
In only a handful of years
Than some who barely scratch
Life’s surface after decade upon decade
Of blood coursing through veins
A heart beating, lungs expanding,
Going through the motions
But that’s not living.
That’s marking time.

Yep

So true. I think I’m one of those that is perhaps just marking time…

There were times in my life when that was true for me. At least that’s how it felt. The good thing is, we can start right now, to really live.

Indeed it is. I know quite a few folks like that. I aye want to shake them when i think of those who were done too soon.

I always think of Charlie and the chocolate factory. The grandparents in bed for no reason.

Leslie, I love this. It really is my kind of free verse poem. I might want to use it for my end of life Memorial Service. It pushes me to live large.

Thank you! I wrote it in my head on my way home from being with Janice and Guy. Shawn LIVED. It was so obvious.
