Close Call

I have lots of different earrings, but unless I’m accessorizing for a special occasion I always wear my favorite pair. The ones pictured below.

They aren’t fancy and they weren’t expensive, but I purchased them several years ago on our trip to Scotland, and they’re by far my favorite souvenir from that, or any trip. But today, after getting my hair cut and styled I must have neglected to put the little rubber thingie on the wire.

Fortunately, the earring didn’t fall off until I’d returned home and then it had the decency to fall into my lap at a point in time when I was sitting still. I shudder to think what might’ve happened if it had fallen off at PETCO or in the cafe where I had lunch.

I lose things on a fairly regular basis, but I’ve held on to these earrings for a good long time. Maybe this close call will make me pay attention in the future. Maybe.

Peace, people.

      1. Ha!! I’m planning a trip to see Mike Steeden and Shirley Blamey once travel is safe again, and I loved Scotland so much I might need to make a side trip. I ask fir money instead of gifts now and every penny goes into my travel account. My husband doesn’t enjoy traveling, but he thinks it’s wonderful that I do.

  1. Isn’t it funny how we pick favorites? I collect earrings. In fact while in chemo because I lost my hair, which was previously long, I’d put on a colorful chemo cap and always don a pair of earrings. I purchased quite a few during treatment. Earrings made me feel like I was still a woman, not a bald alien without eyebrows . But what’s interesting is that since my hair has returned, Ive gone back to my favorites. Yes, I have long ones, short ones, silver, gold, tri colored, turquoise, gem stone etc. even RBG earrings. But I tend to reach for my favorite sterling hoops. Or dangle hearts. If I lost either of those I’d be devastated. I totally get it. We pick our favorites. They represent who we are. Yours are lovely. I’m so happy you found yours.
BTW, I’ve never used that little thing on the end… I suppose I should start. Lol
