The ‘almost’ is the best use of the word ‘ever’. The whole a splendid metaphor for whatever you, or the reader, want it to be. Best thing I’ve read on this blandist of bland days by a country mile. In short, young Leslie, you nailed it.

It seems the deeper the waters, the less attractive the fish. I’m sure that’s a metaphor for something.
