Orange leaves collude
With brown, and russet, and red
In my October
Bonfires blaze brightly
Crackling logs, shooting embers
In my October
Hoodies and sweaters
Tall boots with warm woolen socks
That’s my October
Okay, I live in Florida. Our autumns here are fairly subdued, but I have fond memories of autumns in Illinois where the leaves turned impossibly beautiful colors and the sound of leaves crunching under foot was music to my ears.
Peace, people.
I lived in New England for over 20 years – so I know about those “impossible” colors. Now (like you) i live in the deep south – not quite Florida, but close.

Well you may not live there but you evoke it brilliantly.

That is the autumn I want, not all this really cold overnight chill. We aren’t into the heart of those gorgeous leaves quite yet, but soon and that makes me happy!

😊 it always made me happy, too. But then winter would follow. Ugh.

That is one of the biggest reasons that no matter how much Hubby and I may talk about moving somewhere else, we never will. We get the full range of all seasons and I’m not sure I’d ever be able to give that up.

Every now and then I feel the need to see autumn leaves in person. Fortunately my daughter lives in Illinois, on the banks of the Mississippi. Beautiful fall foliage. I do not miss winters though. Not even a tiny bit.

I love the snow, but hate the cold. Most of the time, I think the snow is worth it, but not always.

Four years of living in North Dakota cured my need for snow.
