Eyebrows Strike Again

You know what ticks me off? When I’m getting a manicure and the manicurist asks, “Do you want your eyebrows waxed?”

Here I was thinking my eyebrows had it going on, and she blows my confidence with one question.

I wanted to say, “If I’d needed my eyebrows waxed that’s what I’d have asked for. Stick to the fingernails, lady.”

Instead I mumbled a polite, “No, thank you,” but now I can’t stop wondering if I should’ve had my eyebrows waxed. Too late now! These are the brows I’m taking to Texas:

They aren’t awful, are they? That’s code for, “if they are, I really don’t want to know.” After all these years here I am, still praying for eyebrows.

Peace, people!

  1. She probably asked a business question. More services means more income, tips…it probably didn’t mean anything but I know what I mean.

It’s similar with the cashier at the drug store. She knows me, I know her. I shop there twice a week minimum. She knows I have a points card. But every flippin time I go there she asks. Probably automatic, and she has to. But. Sometimes I wanna shove that card up her…

Ok. You know what I mean. 😂

  2. Of course you didn’t need anything to be done to your eyebrows. The most logical reason is that the nail technicians are told to ask every customer that question Before they leave. The owners make money if you do more procedures. My eyebrows have dwindled down to sparse these days. But I’ve been asked at my hair salon that same question and it’s laughable. If the main boss is on the premises they will do that. BTW, your eyebrows look a heck of a lot better than mine do. Relax, the girl was just following protocol.

  3. I get that. I felt the same way when the girl who washed out the hair dye asked me. The crazy thing was my hair stylist has to color my eyebrows too because they are going gray as well. So on top of them being sparse they are half gray. I wanted to smack her but my head was in the sink and I couldn’t. 😩

  4. I’m sorry, but that is like asking the lady with a slight bulge when the baby is due (I’ve actually gotten that one before and now I’m stupidly self conscious). Okay, so maybe not quite that bad, but seriously! I get it if it is one of those required “You want fries with that?” kinds of questions, but it could still so easily be seen as offensive. Or it could send someone off into a self esteem panic. Why would anyone require you ask that question of someone?!

    1. Ugh! We had a lady come to adopt a cat once and when her and her family showed up, I warned her about the dangers of litter boxes for pregnant women. She gave me this look and I realized – that I should never, never, never, never, never, never, ever get that wrong.

      1. Yeah, that’s one of those things that unless the woman has specifically mentioned it herself or you are watching the head crown, you really should just not say anything.
