I’m on the road this week, visiting with my friend, Nicky, in Kingsport, Tennessee. When I arrived at her house on Monday afternoon the last thing on my mind was writing a post for this blog, but then I received this notification from WordPress:
Four years of blogging! Wow. That’s either four years of time wasted or four years of growth and engagement. I choose to embrace the latter.
In honor of this auspicious occasion, I thought it would be appropriate to link to my first piece. I remember being frozen with fear before pressing the “publish” button that first time. Would people laugh? Would I get angry “how dare you pretend to be a writer!” comments?
Those were wasted worries. Hardly anyone bothered to read the post, thus there were no comments. Nowadays I just write and publish without any worry. I’ve come a long way, baby. Well, maybe.

Congrats! Thanks for posting your first post. It reminded me of my own feelings when I hit the publish button for the very first time. I am definitely NOT a writer, but I enjoy the process and the satisfaction of a finished product. Have fun on your girls trip. I just returned from a girls trip to Memphis (a good halfway point for the four of us). My face still hurts from smiling and laughing so much! I wish the same for you!

I wondered how you came up with the name for this blog…now I know! Thanks and congratulations on 4 years. BTW, I would kill for your eyebrows, mine have been leaving steadily over the last few post-menopausal years. The eyebrow pencil is my best friend but I fear soon I won’t even have a faint line to follow when I try to figure out where to draw them on. Hey, there’s a name for a blog—The EyeBrow Pencil Is My BestFriend 🙂

Thanks! My eyebrows are hanging in there, but nowadays the eye brow pencil is a must. Otherwise I just look like I have a couple of squiggly dirt smudges above my eyes.
