The Saddest Things

If tomorrow booted goons came to silence my free speech,

If in the night I found myself imprisoned for my beliefs,

The saddest thing would not be my arrest, but that

Friends like you would sit by and say, Well she did bring it on herself.

Oh, you might wring your hands when the executioner comes,

And you might pray for my poor soul’s repose,

But the saddest thing is you’ve watched democracy poisoned

And opened wide for the bringer of death’s dose.

With every measure this fool in charge claims greatness

A sleight of hand meant to convince and confuse

So when my body is hanged in the virtual square,

It’s your gullibility that’s tightened the noose.

And the saddest things are the memories of you with fierce ideals

Now turning a blind eye to injustices in a quest for the status quo

Those protest songs traded now for hymns of the prosperity gospel

Nothing like an evangelical sermon and a gaudy mummer’s show.

Oh! What a Tangled

The vines entwine almost playfully about themselves and their host trees. I call this one, “Throw Me a Line.”

Falling

Falling from great heights
Stomach dropping headiness
Help me bungee cord!

Falling in deep love
Hormones rush in hectic waves
Help, help me Rhonda!

Falling in slow mo
Like an action movie scene
Help me Chuck Norris!

Cat got your tongue? he asked.

That’s the stupidest question ever
, I replied

Cats have no need for human tongues and such, but they might have my yarn.

Cats love yarn.

Loved this song when I first heard Maureen McGovern sing it in The Poseidon Adventure. Now, it holds a deeper meaning with trump in the White House.

OMG! It’s more frightening than we thought!

Good information!

tRump’s main goal is to destroy our way of life.  Regulations be damned, clean air, who needs it!  Same goes for water.  It’s all about how much money he and his cronies are going to make off of the U.S. citizens.

This is a useful record of the extraordinary steps taken by Trump during his first days in office. During the campaign, we learned that it was difficult to react to an outrageous statement because it was quickly succeeded by yet another one. Now, we find that each outrageous executive action is followed by yet another […]

Bully

From a blogging friend in Australia. This should matter to every American.

A few years ago we decided to make our transition to Australia official, and we accepted Australian citizenship. We are now Australian. We are able to sing the anthem with pride and ownership. Our prime minister, for all his faults, is Malcolm Turnbull. Not Trumbull. Not Trunbull. Turnbull. Maybe Trump and co liked the matching pattern of ‘Trum’ even though it is not a matching pattern at all. Turnbull is not perfect, and Australia is not perfect, but it is a good place to live in. The benefits far outweigh the negatives. The people are relatively friendly, there are no wars, it is safe, we have fresh food, lamingtons, shelter, work, and also, in general, there is courtesy. We wait in queues if we have to. We make way if we have to. We are protected by anti-bullying and harassment laws.

Which means the brash and disrespectful tone of other…
