On Monday morning I have to have a little PROcedure. And honestly, even though I have a bit of anxiety about it, I’m enormously relieved that it’s not a CONcedure, or worse yet, an AMATEURcedure.

Ugh, indeed. Mine’s a scope of my bladder. I chose to be anesthetized for it. Couldn’t handle the thought of a local in that region. My mom died of bladder cancer, so I’m a little concerned, but not terribly.

Sigh. I understand. Be brave, be calm. We’ll get through this.

I can assure that it is painless with just the anaesthetic gel. I hope your bladder is squeaky clean for you.

Good luck! Is it sedation or general?

Just sedation. I’m picturing something similar to what I had during my colonoscopy.

It must be. I wonder how they get there – through the abdomen wall or catheter. Did they discuss it with you? Just curious. Wouldn’t matter much to you, thanks goodness you won’t remember anything 🙂

Catheter. I hate catheters! That’s why they’re putting me out–I freaked out when I thought about them sending a camera up my urethra.

Oh… Well, they will take it out before you wake up, I hope. Just try not to think about it.

So, how did it go?

It was fine. I slept all day and all night. Apparently my bladder is ok.

Oh thanks goodness. I have my op in April, and a friend’s husband was diagnosed with bowel cancer last week. Sad and scary. Keep your eye on that bladder and cut down on sugar.
