I snapped many photos while Studly Doright and I toured the USS ALABAMA and the USS DRUM in Mobile, Alabama, this past weekend. Here are the ones taken while we snaked our way through the DRUM, a World War II era submarine on display at Battleship Memorial Park.

I can’t imagine being stuck on this vessel for months on end. Claustrophobia would’ve been the death of me.
Peace, people!
All the climbing and squeezing would have done me in!

We got tickled watching each other climb through. Studly is 6’2!

Submarines are so cool. Been on a few. If I had Bill Gates money, I order up a plush one and, for the most part, live submerged. A few people are doing just that.
Nice tours, you take us all on, Painted Toes.
And be sure to advise Studly that the first 100 years are the toughest.

My dad was stationed on one very briefly. He hated it.

So Captain Nemo cool, but you would have to find an underwater fresh air cave~

Crazy, isn’t it. So many people in such a small space. Horrible place to die too 😦

I couldn’t do it.

“Run, Start, Stop.” I guess that seems simple enough. 🙂

All life should be that simple. Right?

I love touring them actually and virtually!

How on earth (or under water) did those submariners dash about like they do on films?

I think the DRUM might be a smallish sub. But even so, I can’t imagine there would be much dashing taking place.
