Voice Work
Your blog is about to be recorded into an audiobook. If you could choose anyone — from your grandma to Samuel L. Jackson — to narrate your posts, who would it be?
This old gal from Texas would quite enjoy hearing her thoughts narrated by the beautiful songbird, Adele. It’s always a bit of a shock to absorb her bright Cockney accent after having heard the richness of her singing voice.
My words in her voice. Bring it on!
She could narrate in song, too.

Peace, people!
I adore Adele! Good choice. She is also a hilarious, and phenomenal human being! 🙂

She is OK, but she is a Londoner and not a cockney. How do I know? Because I am a cockney from the East End of London, Bethnal Green. She was born in Tottenham, although she is forgiven, just not east End. Her twang is similar to mine, but mine is authentic – although I have been living in Switzerland for the past 49 years and if I speak english try to speak a good english so that everyone will understand me.

Thanks for the clarification! So how would I describe her accent if not Cockney? I’ll fix the piece.

As I said she does have a cockney twang, but an official cockney is born within the sound of Bow Bells, and the Bow Bells sound does not reach to Tottenham. You could call it a London accent, but I can accept the cockney twang, although it is not so genuine. Tottenham is North London.

Gotcha. It’s interesting because I have a Texas twang. But mine is radically different from the twang of someone who grew up in Houston, and there’s a difference between Houston and Dallas. One can almost pinpoint in which part of the state someone is from merely from differences in their accent. It’s all fascinating.

And very interesting. We learn something every day. The only thing I know from Dallas is the Ewing family. 🙂

Lol! They weren’t representative of my life.

So, the next question is, would you ask her to sing your writings or just speak ’em?

Hey, it’s Adele. She can do whatever the hell she wants!

Dame Judy Dench could bring class, rhythm and tone to my posts. I hear your post in Adele’s no nonsense north London speak. 😇😉
