High Five

I saw this post on Facebook yesterday and it made me think. Just what are my cardinal rules for life? Do I even have one cardinal rule?

So here’s what I think. See if you agree.

1) Love. Everyone. Period.

2) Be kind, even if it’s the last thing you feel like being.

3) Forgive. Yourself, others, the world.

4) Do what needs to be done. It might be hard. It might be distasteful, but do it anyway.

5) Experience life. The good, the bad, and the ugly.

Okay. It’s your turn. What are your cardinal rules for life? You don’t have to have five, but that happens to be my favorite number.

Peace, People.

  1. cardinal rules for life, eh? okay. 1. make a contribution 2. Be honest, especially with yourself. 3. Life isn’t fair, but I should be. 4. Whatever life has gifted, use it up, give it away, share it, love it, let it be joyfully appreciated. 5. Be bold. be myself. be happy. 6. Love without conditions or expectations of reciprocity. 7. embrace the differences.

  2. For years, I’ve had two cardinal rules:

    1. Never assume.
    2. The answer’s always “Yes” unless it has to be “No” — that’s the one that has led to more than a few adventures!

I usually operate by these as well:

    3. Very few decisions need to be made immediately: take time to reflect.
    4. Be kind, and then be kinder.
    5. Save some space for wonder.

I am really enjoying your blog!

    1. I like your two rules, Luri. They are simple and meaningful. You and Janie always make me think.

And thanks for taking the time to read my posts. I like that this is forcing me to write something every day. I have really gotten out of practice.
