My new washer and dryer arrived today exactly one month from the day a lightning strike rendered my washer unrepairable. I call this one, “I Hereby Christen You Ida and Oscar. Long May You Launder!”

      1. We’ve had a broken dishwasher since January. It’s not the same hardship but the carry on when it is under a repair prog has been a saga to match the ancient Norse ones. We are being told it will be next week …

I once wrote a story, way back in my teenaged days as a school assignment, about a Greek god named Dranos who had to rescue the lovely Housewiphone (sort of rhymed with Persephone) from the perils of household plumbing. Your Norse saga reference brought back a solid memory. I got good marks on that paper. Wish I’d kept it.
