I snapped these at the Destin Seafood Festival on Saturday evening. Studly Doright and I had no idea that the festival was taking place and just stumbled onto it by happy accident. Unfortunately, Studly doesn’t eat anything that lives in water and I’d eaten such an incredible seafood omelet at brunch that I wasn’t even a bit tempted.
I’ve titled these “Oh, to be Hungry!” and “Dream Buffet,” respectively.

I have to admit I’m with Studley there, no fish, or shrimp or anything for me either. So what does blackened mean, I ‘ve seen and heard it before, but not really known what it was……….or is it just char coaled on a BBQ?

It’s a cooking technique. The food is drenched in melted butter and spices (often Cajun) and the cooked in a really hot skillet which gives it the dark or blackened appearance. Good stuff.

My wife is allergic to seafood, but fortunately can eat fish. Sometimes even the smell of shrimp, scallops, mussels, clams, etc. can make her feel nauseous, which is problematic since I absolutely love them. It makes for some challenging ways for me to enjoy it.

Studly just despises it. I’ve seen him wipe his tongue with a napkin after accidentally eating a salad with crab meat in it.

Have you tried Studly on something that’s dead out of the water? 🙂

Hahaha! I usually say he doesn’t eat anything that swims.

I think it looks delicious myself. I’m sorry to have to disagree with Studly on this one.
