After many months of being a domestic goddess I’m off to work again. Part of me is saying, “Woohoo” while the other part is asking, “What was I thinking?”
The toughest obstacle thus far this morning was dragging my feeble body out of bed when the 6 a.m. alarm sounded. I’d been wide awake since 4:30 either from anticipation or dread; I’m not certain.
Obstacle number two was getting dressed in something other than denim capris, a tshirt, and flip flops. I almost cried when I placed my feet in regular shoes. I’m so sorry, feet!
And instead of my normal brunch I had to eat breakfast! To ease the strain of eating something before 9 a.m. I stopped at Cinnabon and scarfed down a serving of Cinna minis with icing. My feet might hate me, but my tummy is so pleased.
Now, having arrived a full thirty minutes early for my assignment, I’m sitting in the car in front of a school in Tallahassee listening to Howard Stern and scanning the cars in the parking lot for my coworkers, none of whom I’ve met. Surely they’ll be easy to spot. We all have identical green suitcases packed with testing materials.
Wish me luck, friends. If you don’t hear from me again you’ll know I truly was allergic to work and couldn’t afford an epi pen.
Peace, people.
Lol, couldn’t stop laughing! I did the same thing! Got myself a job, now I don’t have time or sleep and all is muddled! I wish I had not!!!

I think once I get used to following a schedule (why did I never notice what a dirty word that is?) I think I’ll be fine.

No you won’t! I still can’t after 4 months!

Hope it went well for you! I am working on a similar kind of post — well, it’s actually still marinating in my mind at the moment– because I too recently have gone back to work, albeit for around 8-10 hours a week. And in spite of the low number of hours, I’m already resenting it! 🙂

I’m only working four days a week, but I am resenting my freedom. I had to stick to a schedule! Unthinkable! Plus I just got home after day one and I’m exhausted.

lol………….now you’ll be a little more sympathetic to us poor souls working in excess of 40 hours per week!

Studly is in that category and I’m forced to be sympathetic.

Hope you’re getting into the rhythm of things. I went on an interview today and I ended up interviewing her – I think so I could come up with reasons not to take the job if offered. Just the interview made my feet yell in rebellion. Good luck!

Hope you’re over the worst by now! I went to my first meeting totally jetlagged and was wondering who those alien-speaking-looking people were. Yes boohoo, for me specially after having had such a great couple of weeks in the USA 🙂

I’m glad you made it home safely. I’m still wondering why I thought doing something that requires me to get up before 6:30 was a good idea.

Most of us have to earn a living, sigh, or there’s also the feeling we have to contribute something and do something “useful” with ourselves 🙂
