Sheet Conceit

snobbery is not my thing
until it comes to sheets
thread count, deep pockets
all the criteria to meet
yet a rift has arisen
in the sheet that was fitted
and three holes slice through
where they should be knitted
but quality bedding
is priced rather dear
so pieces i’ll
buy here and there
though i swear i can’t sleep
on mismatching linens
my sensibilities
they do offend.

  1. Nicely put. Quality and matching are nice in sheets, but mine tend to be haphazard. It’s a luxury I hope to enjoy further down the line, when life gets less chaotic. If ever.

    1. I blame my need for nice sheets on my voracious reading habit. I never knew the difference until I read about Egyptian sheets with 1000 thread count in old romance novels. I found a set in a discount store and fell in love with luxury.
