Dadgum Dead Deer

Traveling down the interstate highways north of Paducah, Kentucky, on through Nashville, Tennessee, and down into Birmingham, Alabama, every half mile or so we came across a poor dead animal—most often a deer—whose carcass litters the roadway.

At one point I thought I spotted a coyote among the dead, but no, it was just another dadgum dead dear. I think that phrase would make a fine song title.

Dadgum Dead Deer. It’ll be a hit.

Peace, people.

  1. I nearly created my own dadgum dead deer just a few days ago. Heading to work and out it popped from the hillside brush. Thankfully it was smart enough to turn right around and hide among the foliage.

      1. 49 years! I lived in the Memphis, TN area for about 16 years and then moved up to MI when I was 32. I’m 65 now so MI is my home but I have LOTS of family in Nashville (my husband is from Nashville, too) so we visit there a lot. It’s a beautiful and fun town but too expensive for us!
