Smarty Claws

Gracie, our new cat, seems to be a smart girl. Today she figured out how to open the door to the hutch where her treats are stored.

When I confronted her she was nonchalant.

No worries, Mom!

Last night she brought me a package of treats. She meowed conversationally until I opened the package for her. I’m sure she thinks I’m rather dense.

Still, she loves to snuggle with her not so bright human. Can’t beat having a sweet kitty on your lap on an autumn night.

Peace, people!

  1. Child-proof locks. My cats used to bang on the cabinet doors where their food is kept. When they would not open, my cats would lay on their back and try to open the doors. I could just picture them swearing under their collective little breath, “Open, dammit!” We had to put locks on the doors until they lost interest. Cats: cute and crafty. Gotta love ’em.

    1. That’s so funny! Our cat who just died never expressed any desire to see where anything was kept. Her food came from me and that’s all that mattered. She also never jumped on cabinets or tabletops. So it’s been really interesting having a curious cat in the house.

  2. Oh, that is epic! I should be glad that our older kitty just sits by the drawer and meows at my daughter after dinner (she knows when it is treat time). If BG isn’t fast enough she goes back and forth looking at BG, then the drawer, then BG, meowing louder each time she has to look back at the drawer. I don’t even want to think about how bad she’d be if she could figure out how to open that drawer and get to the treats. She’d never leave anyone alone!
