Good Times

I’m reading Light of Impossible Stars, the third novel in Gareth Powell’s Embers of War series. When I came across these sentences it hit me just how perfect they were for what we’re experiencing now. And, who knows? A month down the road these days in early April 2020 might be considered good times. Everything is relative. Look for the good when and where you can. We will survive.

I highly recommend the series to fellow sci-fi enthusiasts. Do start with Embers of War, though.

Peace, people.

  1. Well, I think there’s so much doom and gloom and panic being engendered–certainly over here–cos the NHS has been run into the ground and two years back the UK failed some pandemic exercise and never implemented any of the suggestions cos of Brexit taking up everything, so there are huge shortages of beds and equipment. But people are catching it and they are okay. We hear about these who test positive but the prob is here you can’t hardly get a test. It is reducing GPs to saying over the phone.. sounds like it. That was the position for my older girl and her hubby a few weeks back –and then by default their contacts–including us–left thinking ok… having had their wee girl sneeze and all, all over us.. ..What I can tell you about it is that no attempt was made to trace their contacts and my daughter’s cough I could hear down the phone was not nice. So hopefully this cashier will be all right. And that she hasn’t necessarily passed anything on.
