Snapshots #264 and 265

I think these should be called, “What Could One Build Using Only Popsicle Sticks and Marbles?” and “Lamps, of Course.”

Of course, “Too Much Time on One’s Hands” would also be an apt title.

Speaking of hands, on the one hand, I admire all the time and effort that went into the construction of these lamps. On the other hand, I just wonder why. Why the effort? Why the time?

No, I did not purchase these beauties.

Peace, people.

  1. Putting that together would be tedious beyond belief! But I have to wonder what it would look like with the light on, especially in a semi-dark room. Really strange shadows, and I wonder what the lighted marbles would look like!? Great for a Halloween party perhaps?

  2. I of all people can understand needing to follow the path of your creative muse, but… um… sure. Okay. Also from the creative me I’m asking “Why did you leave the popsicle sticks bare? No paint? No stain? Nothing to drag them out of the drabness that is popsicle sticks?” I’m also hoping like crazy they didn’t use hot glue that a really hot light bulb is going to soften or melt. That’d be loads of fun! I can see how the marbles might do some really interesting things with the light when it was on, but I don’t think there are enough to make an impact. I’ll climb down off of my creative snob perch now.

    1. Oh, I asked myself why the sticks hadn’t been painted. Seemed odd to put all that work into a project and then leave it bare. Maybe he/she was simply sick to death of popsicle sticks once it was done. The glue issue is interesting. That would be a tragedy, wouldn’t it? All that work melting in the end.

      1. Ha! Can you imagine? Sitting and reading, noticing that your light source has unexpectedly shifted. You look up and your wonderful creation, your pride and joy, is listing to the side and marbles start pinging off the table.
