It might not have been a good idea to watch Avengers: Endgame on Sunday morning and this season’s Episode 3 of Game of Thrones on Monday evening. I’m an emotional wreck.
No spoilers, but in both cases some favorite characters died. I know exactly which ones left us in Endgame, but thanks to the overly dark ambience in Game of Thrones, I’m not completely sure who was killed and who is still among the living. There may be tears shed after next week’s episode when we learn their fates.
On a slightly, but not really, related note, this floater in my right eye is bumming me out. My understanding is that it might be my new normal. I’m thinking of naming it “Splot” because it’s more than a “Spot,” but less than a “Blot.” Out, damned Splot!
I teared up as I told Studly Doright that there’s a possibility I’ll never get to ride a roller coaster again for fear of ending up with a detached retina. Roller coasters are my thing, and I’d hoped for a few more good years of riding with my grandkids. Studly, who doesn’t want anything to do with roller coasters had trouble empathizing with me.
“It’s like when you had to give up racquetball after your knee replacement surgeries,” I told him.
“Yep, and I did it,” he gloated. Studly isn’t exactly known for his willpower, so that carried some weight.
“As long as I can still read, I guess I’ll be okay,” I sighed.
“Look on the bright side,” Studly said. “Reading has never sent you to the chiropractor. Roller coaster riding always does.”
He’s right, dammit. Here’s to many more years of reading.
Peace, people.
I suppose you have to take the victories as they come. I empathize with the difficulty of giving up something up that you love. Been there with my arthritis, but I’m with Studly on this one. The roller coaster fun should be a memory. Seeing the world clearly is something too easily taken for granted.

It’s already part of the landscape. Weird how I can go quite awhile without even noticing it.

Much like that still broken table lamp that tops your “project” pile, you’ll forget it was ever there before Mother’s day.

Loved your commentary on Game of Thrones. After it ended I called my son who lives in Atlanta (and is a director in the film industry) and we chatted about it. I asked his opinion about the darkness. He said that was done on purpose. It enabled us to see what the characters saw. (Putting us in their sight line and from their perspective.) It was dark, foggy , icy etc, all adding to the suspense.
I cried when certain characters I have grown attached to died. But, they died nobly. And that gave me some comfort. Isn’t it funny howwe get invested in TV characters? That means the writing and the acting is top notch. I literally jumped up and applauded when our girl (You know who, but I won’t say because of spoilers) killed The Knight King. I was at the edge of my seat the entire time watching this episode.
We will just have to wait to see if our favorites lived or died.
I have a feeling the majority lived- at least for another episode- to take on their next evil advisary. And now the question is …. in the end…. who will win? Of course I want an equal partnership between Jon Snow and the Dragon Queen to win out. But, I’d be just as happy to see Arya lead the 7 kingdoms. Da da da da dum…. We shall see…. And I am sorry about your eye… I have other health issues that often prevent me from doing things I love. It can be very frustrating. But, we all deal with certain limitations as life goes on. It is just kind of what happens. As long as we are still here, then its all good…. Now per chance it is time to dream of being wrapped up with Jon Snow in that cuddly warm coat of his… hehehe. Yes, I know, I am a dirty old lady.

Ha! Jon Snow is way too short for me to fantasize about, but I do like Arya’s young man.

I always look up the spoilers first so I know what’s coming. My sympathies about the roller coasters though
